AB OUT: Donald J. Young's knack for exci ting music shows no bounds with Impact! His driving percussion pushes the band forward to a soulful mid section with plenty of solo features, bookended by energetic percussion and brass. FROM THE COMPOSER: Everything we do impacts those around us to one degree or another; each note and each musician in an ensemble will have an affect on the performance. This composition musically displays the various moods we all experience. After a short two bar fanfare, the percussion section, punctuated by the anvil, drives the music to the opening theme. After the exposition, the tempo slows to a soulful melody in the alto saxophone, repeated in the trumpet and then the flute. Next, a heavy, dark theme plods through the muck of life until the percussion returns to lead the music to an exciting and hope-filled ending. DURATION: 4'25"
