AB OUT: Take a diversion with this latest march from Richard Peters! His fresh take on the traditional march style is lighthearted, fun, and accessi ble for ensembles of any level! FROM THE COMPOSER: A few years ago, my wife had her…well I won’t say which one, but she had her high school reunion and I started thi nking about my high school days and all the friends I made, the “wonderful” teachers, music events, and athleti c competitions I participated in. Our graduating class was large, so the ceremony was in the football stadium. All the senior band members made a big deal of marching into the stadium and keeping our fellow non-band seniors in step. At the end of the ceremony, I decided i t would be a good idea to run through the goal post, so I started running and everybody followed. It was great! The band played “Pomp & Circumstance,” so I thought it might be a good idea to write a march that could be a ceremonial style piece. This piece is dedicated to a great friend, musician, and composer, Robert E. “Bob” Clemons. Bob was a mentor, and we talked a lot about composing and arranging. Bob has been gone now for almost 20 years, but I have finally been able to put some of the styles and melodies we talked about to musi c. DURATION: 3'36"
