The River Jumped Over the Mountain by Andrew Davis Composer published on 2012-03-09T21:08:18Z The River Jumped Over The Mountain is a work for winds and percussion. My goal from the beginning was to create a work that focused less on thematic content and more on the coloristic aspects of the ensemble. Much of the material is motivic and gestural, changing and growing throughout the work to create these different "colors." While there is no programmatic or direct narrative that influences this work, there is a musical narrative that is shaped by the changing of these colors, one that ebbs between a sense of mysterious darkness and triumphant fanfare.
