Corelli's Twelve Sonatas marked an historic turning point in music-making with its first publicaion in 1700. Originally for violin and basso continuo, the sonatas were divided into two schools: Sonata da chiesa and Sonata da camera. For their version for viola and realised continuo, the editors have used the first edition, together with the third edition for authentic ornamentation.
