GAVOTTE is designed to be performed by beginning bands and is ideal for a first or second performance. The piece can be performed by full band or any combination of a first and second parts plus a bass part. The trombone part is optional and can be used with full instrumentation or dropped if you have weak trombone players. Have your trombones play the baritone part as a bass substitute.In addition to full band performance there are many combinations which could be created and performed: A brass quartet of 1st. trumpet, 2nd. Trumpet, trombone and baritone. A clarinet trio of 1st. clarinet, 2nd. Clarinet and bass clarinet. Two flutes and bassoon or baritone sax. Whatever combination you have available with two soprano and one bass instrument can successfully perform this piece. A brief explanation of the pick up notes needs to be done by the conductor. Cues are provided for those instruments which do not play the pick up notes. Performance time is 1'30". Combine this selection with Waltz by the same composer for a suite of dances.
