COVERED BRIDGE is designed to be performed by beginning bands and is ideal for a late first year performance. Range is one octave and rhythms are limited to quarter and half notes in the instrumental parts and eighth notes in the percussion parts. This piece can be performed when most bands reach page 22 to 25 in most major band methods. Bands with limited instrumentation will still have success with this composition. A combination of two clarinets and trombone and baritone would get achieve a successful result. Other combinations which utilize a first and second part along with a bass part will achieve success. Tempo should be quarter note equals 100 up to 120.
