The title for the cycle Sacred Songs for Pantheists implies the unifying thought which binds together the poems of Gerard Manley Hopkins, Emily Dickinson, and James Stephens used in this work. The music mirrors in sound the substance of the poems. Every element of the music flows directly from the words - the structure, the melodic contour, the rhythm, the texture, and the harmony. The motivating thought of the entire cycle culminates in the final song "God's Grandeur." This is a piano reduction of a score that can also be performed with a full orchestra.
