Masanori Fukuda

I have composed this piece by attempting to portray my daily life based on the theme of the "everyday life of a common person." The family scenes from my daily life that have inspired me are full of elements such as the perspectives and circumstances of my children as well as the life that I have personally led up to now. Although my approach to composing the different movements is consistent and not at all complicated, I have attempted to incorporate my thoughts and feelings into each movement. "Flying in the Sky" is inspired by the act of soaring through the sky in a dream. The sky in my dream is a surreal space where I sometimes get lost amid fluffy clouds, and on other occasions, where I suddenly encounter an obstacle that surprises me. Hence, I have attempted to depict a world that resembles such a comical fantasy. "A Japanese Lullaby" was inspired by the Japanese folk song "Takeda Lullaby." Although this movement is in some ways variational in style, I have attempted to make it as subtle as possible to lull listeners to sleep without compromising the atmosphere of a lullaby. "Children's March" features a fictitious family of one girl and three boys who are marching alongside each other hand in hand while arguing and fighting with each other. I hope that the musicians can imagine these four siblings marching forward enthusiastically as the eldest girl talks to the youngest boy and the love between the siblings comes to the fore. "Recollections" attempts to capture the nostalgic time that has passed us by, while "Joy" evokes the bliss of soaring into a new world.
