I was commissioned by the Adachi Junior Brass Band to compose this piece to commemorate their 30th founding anniversary in 2021.
Since I also wrote Pulsatilla Cernua - Which Flower Loved by Kenji Miyazawa to celebrate their 20th founding anniversary, I decided that the name of a flower would also be suitable for the 30th anniversary, and chose Primrose for the title of the piece.
Primrose flowers, which bloom around March in the highlands of Japan, have a small, cute appearance and help us appreciate the arrival of spring. In Western folklore, the primrose is closely associated with fairies, and I composed this piece while imagining flower fairies playing cute pranks. The motif is meant to be sung and enjoyed purely and does not come across as difficult. This piece is suitable for feeling and expressing the motif. Its composition is reminiscent of the operetta Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II.PLEASE NOTE - This item is sold on a rental basis.
