This work was composed in 1993 for a reunion commemorating 25 years of choral music-making at Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, TX, where the composer was educated, and is fondly dedicated to the memory of Henry A. Sellers – choral director at this institution from 1969 to 1974. The poem, Concordia, was written specially for this occasion by a classmate of the composer – Geoffrey Paul Walker, who also shared experiences at this same west Texas high school. The composition is laid out roughly in rondo form – ABACADA with Coda and, in keeping with the depth of imagery in the text, is romantically / lyrically conceived throughout.
