Lighthouse Celebration was commissioned and composed for the 40th Anniversary of the Wilmette Community Band; Dr. David Fodor, Director. The band has a rich and storied history. The title comes from the name of the Gross Pointe Lighthouse, located in Evanston, Illinois,
The lighthouse was constructed in 1873 to serve as the lead lighthouse on the approach to Chicago, which had become on of the nation’s leading transportation hubs. While the band is based in Wilmette, Illinois, numerous performances take place in Evanston.
