Rachmaninov's Third Piano Concert is probably the most important work of this genre, although it was recorded, only modes, at its premiere in 1909 with the New York Philharmonic. Soon after the premiere of the concert there was an equally great importance as the previous second piano concert. The concert is mainly famous for the opening theme, which impresses with its simplicity. Rachmaninov's Third Piano Concert is one of the most difficult ever, a circumstance which even prompting the composer to shorten the work in various places. Rachmaninov said about this work: "It composed it by myself."
