New Day in the New World is an original work written for concert band in a new year (2020) and, due to the pandemic that occurred in the middle of the 21st century, also a new work in a different world. This world does not have to be an unhappy world. Perhaps unusual, but not unhappy. It’s possible to be happy in a new world, so when a new day dawns, it must be seen as the emergence of a new hope for something that can be very good, sublime. And music is just that: something sublime.

Musically, the composer intends to transmit his new hope with the dawn of a new day in a new world, using a very simplistic musical language in the design of this composition, appealing to the musical and artistic sensitivity of the musicians as members of the group, the band. The musical theme that represents the simplistic side associated with the establishment of a new hope appears for the first time between bar 21 and 38, starting with a small oboe solo, which is reinforced by the remaining woodwind ensemble a little further on. This theme throughout the work appears to be transformed, culminating in a hymn to the new life when, very close to the end, it appears transposed.

In fact, the composer does not deliberately adopt a formal structure defined for the work, suggesting that it may be a hymn to life, to a positive hope, in which music take on a role of eternal beauty, in which the band as an ensemble, as a group or as a large group, has the chance to be a protagonist.
