Mm-Bamba is a version for saxophone quartet and band of the third movement of AV69, Concerto for brass quintet and band. Mm-Bamba is intended as an entertaining work, whose most prominent feature is the constant use of combined major/minor modes. In two places it uses a fragment of the famous song La Bamba, presented in the form of a complex texture of different pitches and rhythms. The idea is not that this quotation
should be clearly identified by the listener, but it certainly contributes to the light-hearted, good-humoured character of the piece.
